Galway lies on the western coast of Ireland. NUI Galway has a specific role to promote and protect the Irish language and make it sustainable. There’s a long history of environmentalism and conservation on and off campus, and NUI Galway students will be looking forward to cutting waste and protecting the planet.
Student Switch Off is a sustainability campaign running at NUI Galway which supports and encourages students living in halls of residence to save energy and water, as well as recycle.
All students living on campus are part of the energy saving plan. If you live in Goldcrest, you are automatically taking part in the competition but visit our get involved page to find out how you can do more and win individual prizes like Ben & Jerry’s, return rail tickets and other great prizes.
At the end of the year, the hall that saves the most energy & recycles the best will win a prize!
Student Switch Off provides a platform for students to take personal action on the Climate Crisis.
The campaign runs in universities across Europe and in the past 12 years we have…
Each and every small action contributes to our collective impact, so thanks Galway for being part of Student Switch Off!
